BES Kindness Squad is very excited about their last service project of the year! They have set their minds to preparing and running a donation drive for the Lakeland Animal Shelter. Kindness Squad needs the help of our Brookwood families, friends and the community to make their donation drive a success. Here is a video they have helped to prepare to get the word out about Lakeland Animal Shelter and their donation drive that runs from May 15 - May 29th! Following the donation drive, they will be hand delivering the donations to the shelter and providing some hands-on service work while at the shelter.

Our staff includes our amazing bus drivers too!! We are so glad they were able to wear their bus driver appreciation shirts we got them and showcase them as a team for staff appreciation week. Our Brookwood Family is THE best!!!
7th & 8th grade students in Life Skills class had another guest career speaker, our very own Mr. Dennis! Before becoming Broodwood's 7th grade math teacher, Mr. Dennis was a microbiologist. Students learned how his interest in science during high school turned into pursuing a college degree in biology and chemistry. Mr. Dennis shared that he enjoyed how he was able to directly apply his college education to his work in a lab testing microorganisms. Students asked questions and also reflected on how this career would interest them or impact their future career choices.
Thank you ALL for your continued support in our schools. We are so thankful for all of the outpouring of support and love our staff received this week during staff appreciation week. We hands down have THE best staff around and we appreciate their work and dedication to all things Brookwood everyday!!

Our spring forest outing last week offered a variety of activities for all ages. Students across the district spent some time in our school forest. Groups spent time doing various activities such as removing an invasive species to save the forest, use binocular-hand lenses-viewers to observe off trail, collect and make bookmarks & bracelets, scavenger hunts, and see the
community garden.
For some groups, another part of the day was spent doing eco-art projects, playing predator-prey tag, and beginning their units on children's mental health. It was a day packed full
of exploration, observation, learning and creativity!
Yesterday, the BES Running Club and BMS Track Team did their annual end of season run together. BMS students as well as some parents helped the BES Running Club run to the Middle School and back. They all did fantastic with the 2 1/2 mile run! Way to go Mustangs!

The schools were a sea of green today as staff and students showed support for Children's Mental Health Awareness. K-3 students have learned what mental health is, how to practice self care, managing big emotions and understanding that it's okay to ask for help when their mind doesn't feel healthy and happy.

Happy Staff Appreciation Week to the best staff around: Thank you to our amazing staff for their hard work and dedication to all things Brookwood!!!
Today was a great day for 3rd and 4th grade students! The 3rd graders came to the middle school and were welcomed by Mr. Lubus, got to meet the related arts teachers, had lunch with the 4th graders, and then had fun in the forest all afternoon. There was a scavenger hunt, Gaga ball, and some exploration fun for everyone. They even helped removed an invasive species called buckthorn.
Friendly Reminder:
We are excited to once again offer our school supply program, Brookwood Bundles. The teachers have thoughtfully prepared a school supply list for the 2024-2025 school year, and we are pleased to offer an opportunity to purchase these supplies right here from your school!
Forms for this program have been given to students to bring home. If you are in need of another copy, please contact your child’s front office to get another set.

The end of the school year is fast approaching and schedules are filling up quickly. Please take a moment out of your busy schedule to consider this opportunity. Each bundle purchased will help support our Families in Need school supply program. Thank you for your support!

Green Schools Club is an after school club hosted at BES for students in grades 1st-4th. They are helping Brookwood Elementary establish good recycling habits! Every
Wednesday, members collect and take out recyclables from all around the building!
Their next mission is composting lunch and snack scraps for the community garden. Kristin Freytag, from the Environmental Education Foundation, is donating a barrel composter and the
club members are learning as much as they can about good composting. They can't wait to get started!
