Hello BES Heart Heroes, Update: We now have 100 students who have registered and taken their own heart healthy challenges! We have raised over $12,000 for the American Heart Association and have collected donations from 19 different states! Did you know that any student who raises over $250 will get to throw a pie at a teacher or administrator? Save the date: Our Heart Events will take place during your student’s regularly scheduled P.E. classes on either February 14th or 15th. 4K will be on Tuesday. If you are unsure on which day your student has P.E., please reach out to their teacher. Students are encouraged to wear anything that lights up or glows as long as they can safely move around in it. Make Kindness the Norm! How can kids change the world? By performing one random act of kindness at a time! Students and staff at Brookwood Schools will be celebrating Random Act of Kindness Day on Thursday, February 17th- wear your coziest clothes today! BMS: Thursday, February 17th: Kindness warms our hearts - wear your coziest attire today! Kindness Challenge: Good Deeds (opening the door for someone, picking up something that someone dropped, help with carrying things…) BES: Monday February 14th - Friday February 18th Lakeland Animal Shelter Donation Drive through Feb 21st Classroom Kindness Challenge: Throw Kindness around like confetti - Which classroom will complete 100 random acts of kindness first? Daily kindness stories/video clips/dance/songs Thursday, February 17th - Wear your coziest attire today!

Please help us welcome Emily Darnell to our Brookwood Family!! You’ll see Darnell working in our 4/5 wing with Mrs. Erickson and Mrs. Peters as a field study student at our middle school. Darnell is currently attending Northern Illinois University to pursue a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a certification in ESL. She is passionate about not only teaching students but learning how to be the best teacher she can be. Darnell is thankful to have the opportunity to start her clinical experience at such an amazing school like Brookwood. She will also be going to Kenya and Tanzania this summer with a group from NIU to further her knowledge on multicultural education. In her free time, she likes to go thrift shopping, and has recently started to learn to sew. She’s also always trying to find ways to be more sustainable and kinder to the environment. We are so happy to have Darnell as a part of our Brookwood Family!! Welcome!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the middle school to make mosaic art with Mrs. Garrett on Tuesday night! We can't wait to see what creations are made for the Saturday Family Art Workshop in the BMS Art Room on February 12th! This is a family art event, open to all ages! BES Heart Heros! Finn’s Mission: Have you heard about Finn’s Mission? Help your student complete the missions to have some fun and learn things like how to save a life with Hands- Only CPR. When your student completes all of the missions, they will earn Finn’s Lifesavers Award! Only students with pre-paid orders or paper orders will be pulled for pictures this round. You can order student photo packages online here: https://tinyurl.com/42dztce2 or by filling out the paper form that was sent home last month. 
Classroom pictures will also be taken this time. If you would like to order a class picture, please have your child bring $12 and fill out a paper order form. On the paper order form under Add Ons write Group Picture to just order a Group Picture.
