Not only are our students celebrated at the end of the year but so are our staff! The end of the year staff luncheon was with great food and great company. It’s a time where we acknowledge milestones with years of service. Congrats to: Mrs. Fonk for 5 years of service, Mrs. Soto, Mr. Dittner, & Mrs. Denecke for 10 years of service, and Ms. Cottrell & Mrs. Collins for 15 years of service. We also celebrated Mrs. Sireno for her retirement and her 24 years of service at Brookwood. We are so thankful for our staff and their dedication towards our schools, students, and community. Happy Summer, Mustangs. #OnceAMustangForeverAMustang

Throughout the school year, the GCJ2 Staff Wellness Committee, which consists of volunteer staff members, shares various ways for our staff to encourage wellness consciousness and increase various bands of wellness such as their physical, mental, and social activities. Activities focusing on wellness are put out for staff to participate in voluntarily, with fun prizes awarded - courtesy of generous donations from local businesses. This year, we are thankful for the following businesses and people that have donated to and/or supported our Staff Wellness: Evolve Fitness Studio, Lake City Social Lake Geneva, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa - Josh Doyle, Low Daily, The Runaway Micropub and Nanobrewery, Towne & Country Lanes, Infinity Coffee & Beyond- Cafe B, Plaza Theater, Main Event Pub and Grill, The Bottle Shop - Lake Geneva, The Candle Mercantile, Richmond Mercantile, Mrs. Derickson for staff yoga, Mrs. Brenek for drumfit, and our committee members for asking and gathering donations -- but a huge shout out to Mrs. Conrardy and Miss Pacholczak for leading in the asking and gathering donations. Additionally, a HUGE thank you to our Wellness Committee members for putting together ALL the activities like monthly wellness bingo, bi-weekly inspirational emails, encouraging affirmations in staff locations, and the list goes on and on and on…. We were also SO excited to bring back mini massages for our teachers to partake in on-site which was one of the grand prizes this year. Thank you to James from Therapeutic Balance for his service to our staff! Thank you again to all the staff that voluntarily participated in the staff wellness activities this year! Congratulations, Bella! Bella guessed the closest date and time for when the first chick would "pip" at BES. Pipping is when the chick first cracks a breathing hole in the egg shell prior to coming out. As of right now, there are 3 chicks and a duck for the scientists to observe before they go to their forever coops/pens.

BES Kindness Squad is very excited about their last service project of the year! They have set their minds to preparing and running a donation drive for the Lakeland Animal Shelter. Kindness Squad needs the help of our Brookwood families, friends and the community to make their donation drive a success. Here is a video they have helped to prepare to get the word out about Lakeland Animal Shelter and their donation drive that runs from May 15 - May 29th! Following the donation drive, they will be hand delivering the donations to the shelter and providing some hands-on service work while at the shelter. If a picture says a thousand words, just check this out!! Our spring forest outing last week offered a variety of activities for all ages. Students across the district spent some time in our school forest. Groups spent time doing various activities such as removing an invasive species to save the forest, use binocular-hand lenses-viewers to observe off trail, collect and make bookmarks & bracelets, scavenger hunts, and see the community garden. For some groups, another part of the day was spent doing eco-art projects, playing predator-prey tag, and beginning their units on children's mental health. It was a day packed full of exploration, observation, learning and creativity!
