Sharing YOUR Greatness! We ask our Brookwood families to share with us things our Brookwood students are doing outside of school so we can share in your greatness and how #MustangProud we are of your accomplishments!! If you have something to share....email it to Mrs. Xiong at Helen.Xiong@gcj2.k12.wi.us Let’s send good vibes to these Brookwood students that are on the Power Force Athletics team because they are headed to the All-Star World Cheerleading competition in Orlando, Florida: Arianna, Brynlee, and Ayla!!! At this competition, they will be able to compete against the best of the best. All Star Cheer differs from traditional cheer in that its primary purpose is competition, and THIS is THE pinnacle competition. Arianna has been an All Star Cheerleader since she was 3 years old. She is on two teams - the a senior level 4 and the junior level 4! Both of her teams have made into the Worlds! Ayla joined Power Force Athletics 3 years ago as a competitive cheerleader and this will be her 3rd year competing at the Worlds! This year, Ayla’s team: Celebrities has made it to the Worlds. On top of competitive cheer, she is also on the Power Force Athletics competitive tumble team and will be headed to the State Level next week. Brynlee has been competing in All Star Cheer since she was 5 years old. Her team, Brynlee, and her teammates have been working all season toward this goal. Brynlee participates on a senior level 4, and a junior level 4 cheer team; both of which will be competing against other teams from around the country.  We are SO #MustangProud of you all and wish you good luck!!!

Our 7th and 8th graders have an opportunity to be a part of the elective class: Entrepreneurship which gives students a taste of what it is like to run their own business.  They work in groups to study the demographics of a market, develop product ideas, make a plan and present it for approval to staff members. The entrepreneurs then bring their item(s) to market by creating and selling their products to students and staff.  The sale is an exciting day and we are excited to announce that special day is tomorrow! Items for sale range in price from $1-$2. BMS students wanting to purchase in this sale will be given the opportunity by their teachers to visit the sale at varying times on April 12th. Proceeds from this sale will be put into the student activities fund that helps to support activities and events for all students at both schools.

In the 7th/8th grade elective course: arduino programming, students build a variety of circuit while also writing the program's function with the circuit. Each circuit and program perform a specific function, everything from lighting up LED lights, to controlling servos, to playing different sounds, and displaying information on a lcd screen. Students need to pay close attention to the program they write because a single error will cause the entire program to not function. Arduino programming is typically a class taught at the high school level, but the class is available to Brookwood students who have successfully completed the learn to code programming class.

Last week, our 4th graders spent a chilly afternoon at the Seno K/RLT Conservancy in Burlington, WI. They learned about Maple Sugaring and Native American History. The traditions of maple sugaring have long been a part of Wisconsin’s history for many centuries. This program focused on the process of making maple syrup and the rich Native American history behind this tradition. Students also had lessons on tree identification, how to properly tap a maple tree, the process of sap-to-syrup, and traditional sugaring techniques.

8th graders had a great time on their field trip to the 1st Infantry Division from World War I to the Vietnam War Museum. They were able to get to see and walk through military events that they have been learning about and will be learning about throughout the year in Social Studies. What makes this museum unique is that students get the opportunity to be hands on with many of the displays.
