This year during fire safety week, Brookwood Elementary Scientists (4K-3rd) will be learning about outdoor fire safety at the new school forest!
Exploring fire’s uses and safety, hiking the forest, seeing a real wildfire fighter suit, and making s’mores are just some of the activities they will experience.
This will follow in class learning about the dangers of wildfires
and ways to reduce the risk of having a wildfire.

Fire Safety Week: 10/9-13
Thank you to the Bloomfield-Genoa City Fire & Rescue for taking time out of their days to come and visit our schools during this week.

Such a great day for a great cause!!! Our annual Gold Walk was amazing….September is childhood cancer awareness month and we are proud to be able to help spread that awareness. Thank you to all those that were a part of this…the students, staff, parents, Genoa City Police Department, Dousman transport, and Kisses From Keegan and Friends! Gold bandanas were donated to all of our students and staff by Kisses from Keegan and Friends….we are still accepting donations to give to them to support local families affected by childhood cancer. Stay tuned for the drone footage coming next week from the police department!!!

Our first graders are celebrating the completion of their reading stamina goal. Their goal was to read independently for 15 minutes. Over the past few weeks, the students have been increasing their minutes daily. They've been practicing how to look at the pictures and use strategies to help them read words they are stuck on. We are very proud of all the progress they've made this school year. First grade teachers thank the third grade team for the amazing idea! :)

We are so excited that our Mustang Morning Show is back!! This is a program open to our 3rd graders at BES. More information can be gotten from Mrs. Nast. This was this week's episode. Enjoy: https://youtu.be/gdFlexd5J-M?si=MNDLgvh7mdayNNQ6

Picture retake day is Oct 2 for both schools. If your child did not get their picture taken at Open House they will have their picture taken on 10/2. If you need your child to get their picture retaken, E.D. Clark requests you bring the packet back that you got of the Open House proofs and fill out the form on that envelope or get a new envelope from either front office. Picture retakes are free if it is being retaken due to eyes being closed but if they are being retaken for your pleasure there is a cost.

On Friday, October 6th, the students of Brookwood Elementary School will be treated to their first assembly of the year. The steel drummer, Todd Donnelly, will present programs to all grades at the elementary school. The students are learning about the steel drum and calypso music.
Students are encouraged to help set the mood by dressing in tropical clothing that day. Families who wish to enjoy this music are encouraged to catch Mr. Donnelly at the Genoa City Farmers Market that evening. He will be playing from 4:30-6:30.
