Hello, Elementary Heart Heroes! Which Explorer was your favorite from last week’s KHC Kickoff? Can you remember which one really loves water? Which one loves to be active? How about which one reminds us all to say NO to tobacco? These are all great things for your health, now it’s time to go online and take your own personal health challenge! PLUS, you get a free wristband just for signing up! http://www2.heart.org/goto/BrookwoodGenoaCity

Are you ready for Tuesday’s BFO Meeting at BES? We are excited to announce that we will be offering FREE childcare at our monthly BFO Meetings!!! Children attending our free childcare must be 18 months or older. Thank you to the 8th grade leadership students for helping our families come together to help us plan, organize, and coordinate events for our schools.

We had a great first session of Saturday Morning Basketball! Thanks to all the families who came out & a special shout-out to the 8th grade assistants!

During this very cold week, students in Mrs. Bullock's music classes got their wiggles out indoors while working on their fine motor skills to music. Kindergarteners and first graders went "ice skating".

Students in Mrs. Garrett's 7th/8th grade Photography class elective have been learning the basics of photography these past two weeks through a series of photography challenges. Pictured here are students working on a monochromatic flat lay challenge. Students had to group together objects of one color to create an interesting composition that would be photographed from above. Also pictured are photos from their first challenge - The Close Up.

CONGRATS to Alyssa, an 8th grader at our middle school, she was one of just 12 winners in the Society's Assets "Ability Not Disability" poster contest. The contest was open to students in Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha counties. Alyssa was awarded 3rd place in her age category (grades 6-8) and received a laminated copy of her artwork, a winner's ribbon, a Target gift card, and her work is printed in Society's Assets 2022 calendar. A copy of her artwork is also on display at Society's Assets Racine office. We are Mustang Proud of you, Alyssa!! Way to go!!!

Please help us welcome our newest Brookwood Family member Austin Delgado!! You’ll see Delgado at our middle school student teaching with Mrs. Kanthack. Here’s a little more information about Delgado!!
Delgado is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater studying Elementary Education and is minoring in Elementary Math with a graduation date of May of this year. He was Resident Assistant at Whitwater working and living with the freshmen in the dorms. Delgado was born and raised in Antioch, Illinois and is the oldest of 3. His younger brother is a sophomore at Bradley University, and his younger sister is a junior at Antioch Community High School. His father works in accounting and finance, while his mother works within a cafeteria in a school. Delgado has a passion for animals and has always had a pet by his side while growing up. He has a pitbull/lab mix named Jetson that just turned 5 years old. Delgado's family rescued Jetson from the shelter and in Delgado's opinion is one of the cutest and smartest dogs he has ever been around. Until Delgado started his student teaching, he played baseball at Whitewater and has played it since he was 4 years old. He continues his passion for baseball with coaching, he has a 13U travel baseball team that he is currently coaching in preparation for this Summer! Delgado has always known his passion for wanting to be a teacher since he was a sophomore in high school when he was able to take a preschool class as an elective. That was his first experience teaching and has loved the idea ever since. Delgado says, "There is no better feeling than helping others, and if given the opportunity, I would love nothing more than to help change the lives of these students for the better!"
Welcome to our Brookwood Family!!!
