Brookwood Elementary School had a special visitor this morning from the "Elf on a Shelf." Mr. Braden had this surprise for the students as they exited the buses and/or got dropped off at school. This started our day with excitement as our full sized "Elf" greeted the students and encouraged them to make it a great day!!! Genoa City Schools wishes for everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season.

Due to potential inclement weather on Thursday, the basketball games that were scheduled for Thursday are now scheduled for this Wednesday, 12/21, at Salem. We hope to see you there! Go Mustangs!

4th graders experienced what an Early Wisconsin Gathering would be like. They played games like marbles, jacks, pick up sticks, and tiddlywinks. After that they got to taste some of the food that early Wisconsinites would have enjoyed. They feasted on wild rice soup, cranberry muffins, different cheeses, apples and oranges and enjoyed wassil, as drink from apple cider and cranberry juice. They also got to taste ribbon candy and other old fashion candies. To end the afternoon, they had to search for a stocking filled with fruit and candy. It was a fantastic day!!

We are SO excited to continue a series called: Sharing YOUR Greatness!
We ask our Brookwood families to share with us things our Brookwood students are doing outside of school so we can share in your greatness and how #MustangProud we are of your accomplishments!! If you have something to share....email it to Mrs. Xiong at Helen.Xiong@gcj2.k12.wi.us
Our next sharer of greatness is Braden who is currently a 1st grader at BES. Just this past November, he competed in his first national wrestling tournament and got 3rd place for his bracket!!
Braden started wrestling last year and won 34 matches and lost only 3 in his first year of competing. He enjoys wrestling because he has fun with his friends and teammates during practice. He also enjoys winning the trophies from the tournaments he is a part of. Braden also likes the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Whitesox. He also enjoys playing soccer and video games and just like the rest of us…he loves his Mac n Cheese!
Way to make us #MustangProud, Braden!! Continue to work hard and play hard, Braden!

Thank you to all those that donated monies, clothing, time, and well wishes to our Families in Needs Program. We also wanted to give a huge thank you to the community members of Lakeland Community Church for delivering and donating 65 breakfast bags towards this program as well. We are so fortunate to have the supporting community groups continue to lift up our schools and students. Thank you. Thank you. Thank YOU!!

Don’t forget that tonight is the BMS Winter Concert which starts at 6:30pm at BMS.
The groups performing will be our 6th-8th grade Choir, 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7/8 grade band and jazz band.
While you’re in the building, makes sure to check out the amazing artwork throughout the hallways!!

Our BES students have been participating in Makerspace activities and we are excited to share with you that their last focus was learning about how "drag" (when something moves through water or air) interacts with objects. Students in 3rd grade made parachutes with coffee filters, yarn or string, small cups and small figurines. They saw how fast cups without parachutes travel from a height (stairwell), then how a parachute slows the descent of the cup. The goal was to see if their figurine would stay in their cup and make changes to their parachute to make it safer for their figurine.
