Let’s send good vibes to these Brookwood students that are on the Power Force Athletics team because they are headed to the All-Star World Cheerleading competition in Orlando, Florida: Arianna, Brynlee, and Ayla!!! At this competition, they will be able to compete against the best of the best. All Star Cheer differs from traditional cheer in that its primary purpose is competition, and THIS is THE pinnacle competition.
Arianna has been an All Star Cheerleader since she was 3 years old. She is on two teams - the a senior level 4 and the junior level 4! Both of her teams have made into the Worlds!
Ayla joined Power Force Athletics 3 years ago as a competitive cheerleader and this will be her 3rd year competing at the Worlds! This year, Ayla’s team: Celebrities has made it to the Worlds. On top of competitive cheer, she is also on the Power Force Athletics competitive tumble team and will be headed to the State Level next week.
Brynlee has been competing in All Star Cheer since she was 5 years old. Her team, Brynlee, and her teammates have been working all season toward this goal. Brynlee participates on a senior level 4, and a junior level 4 cheer team; both of which will be competing against other teams from around the country.
We are SO #MustangProud of you all and wish you good luck!!!
On May 1st, 3rd grade students will be attending Education Day with the Beloit Sky Carps. Throwing baseball into the curriculum engages students and helps them learn English, Math, Science, and History in exciting new ways! More information will be going home with students soon!
Spring is in the air and our BMS Student Council has been busy planning the Spring Fun Night for 4th and 5th graders as well as our Spring Dance for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Way to make us #MustangProud, Lucas!!
Lucas is the first student at BES to reach 200 reading steps with our monthly reading logs through our reading curriculum. Those 200 steps equal 50 hours of reading! Wow! Way to go Lucas and all those families helping their children grow in literacy by reading at home.
Here is the most updated BMS 6th-8th grade track and field calendar -- please see the correct times on this calendar for tomorrow's practice. Go Mustangs!
The second graders at BES will be traveling to the Lake Geneva YMCA for five Monday afternoons starting April 22 (ending May 20th). They will be in the water learning valuable swimming skills like Swim, Float, Swim; Jump, Push, Turn, Grab; and Moving Bobs to Safety. We will also learn water safety skills both in and out of the pool. Everyone is able to do this free of charge thanks to the YMCA.
The Geneva Lakes YMCA Aquatics Dept., is ALWAYS thinking about water safety because they are very passionate about teaching kids to swim and be safe around water to help prevent drowning. In our communities, there are so many lakes & pools that this is a necessary skill for our kids to be learning.
We are joining over 1500 kids and 13 schools in Walworth County and beyond that have already come to the YMCA to learn these much-needed life skills.
*Families can check with their child's homeroom teacher for more information and details on these events*
Way to make us #MustangProud -- to our 2nd and 3rd graders in Running Club! They are rocking it! These students are averaging 50 miles in each of their 45 minute running club sessions!!
Third grade students took their geometry to the streets! They took all the information they have learned about polygons, triangles and quadrilaterals to create incredible mosaic chalk art. This was an enjoyable and academic break from their Forward state testing.
Our 7th and 8th graders have an opportunity to be a part of the elective class: Entrepreneurship which gives students a taste of what it is like to run their own business. They work in groups to study the demographics of a market, develop product ideas, make a plan and present it for approval to staff members. The entrepreneurs then bring their item(s) to market by creating and selling their products to students and staff. The sale is an exciting day and we are excited to announce that special day is tomorrow!
Items for sale range in price from $1-$2. BMS students wanting to purchase in this sale will be given the opportunity by their teachers to visit the sale at varying times on April 12th.
Proceeds from this sale will be put into the student activities fund that helps to support activities and events for all students at both schools.
Hurry and get your seats before the show starts at 6 at the middle school! Thank you to the Brookwood PTO for this fun free family event tonight!! Here are a couple of pictures from this afternoons show that was put on for our students at our elementary school.
In the 7th/8th grade elective course: arduino programming, students build a variety of circuit while also writing the program's function with the circuit. Each circuit and program perform a specific function, everything from lighting up LED lights, to controlling servos, to playing different sounds, and displaying information on a lcd screen. Students need to pay close attention to the program they write because a single error will cause the entire program to not function. Arduino programming is typically a class taught at the high school level, but the class is available to Brookwood students who have successfully completed the learn to code programming class.
